The Tamagotchi v5 was the first connection toy to have more than 1 character being raised at once. This version is more family-centered, hence the slogan, 'We Are Familitchi!'

Most of the characters in the Tamagotchi! anime originated from the v5.

The v5 can only connect to v5s, v5.5s, Music Stars, and Tama-Gos.

The v5.5 was a continuation of the v5. It's family-centered as well, but has a celebrity touch to it. Characters on the v5.5 are celebrity-based. The games are celebrity based, as well.

The v5.5 can connect to v5s, Music Stars, and Tama-Gos.

Basic Info

Battery Type: CR2032

Pausing Your v5/v5.5: Go to the TV icon and select 'Travel Channel.' Your tama family will go on a trip and will stop growing. To get out of this mode, press the C Button to come back. Select 'Yes' to confirm.

Adjust Contrast: Press B and C. Use A and C to adjust contrast. Press B to confirm.

Sound: Press A and C.

Tama Marriage

Your tama(s) should be at least 6 years old before they cam marry. Go to the TV icon and select 'Dating Show.' You will then select which tama from your family you want married. The matchmaker will appear and present you with another tama to marry.

If you don't want to marry him/her, select 'No.' You will return to the home screen. You can try again and see if your desired partner will appear. You have three chances to get married every day.

Cheat! If you don't want to wait an entire day to get a chance to marry again, set the date to one day later and set the time one minute before your tama(s) wake up, which is 6:59. You will be able to try marriage again. You can do this a number of times before you find your partner. After you marry, you can go back and correct the date and time.

To marry him/her, select 'Yes.' Your tama is now married! Your siblings and parents (if marrying to 3rd generation), will say goodbye and return to Tamagotchi Planet. The married couple will transform into parents and then egg(s) will appear. You now have a new generation of tamas!

Marrying via Connection: The tama families should be close friends before marrying. You can make them close friends by connecting and playing games often. To marry, select 'Marry' after selecting the version type. Choose the tamas you want to marry. Connect the two together and watch them marry!

If you want a Pure Family via Connection: The partner should be sent to the main partner's Tamagotchi (ex. Chantotchi should be sent to Mametchi.) It won't work backwards. They both must have a 100% bond.

Your Tama(s) Are Gone... Instead of dying, your tama family will go back to Tamagotchi Planet in a UFO that will be displayed on-screen. To start over, press A and C.

Training

Training is vital in raising a good tama family. there are certain times throughout the day that your family will call you to do a training activity with them. The times are: 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 4pm, and 6pm.

Cheat!- Set the time on your Tamagotchi Toy one minute before one of the training times to train them quicker.

Your family will call you and there will be a thought bubble above them that either has a question mark or a music note in it. Scroll to the praise/training icon and select it. There will be a lineup of three items. The first item will help you get Mame characters (Smart), the second item will help you get Meme characters (Cheerful), the third item will help you get Kuchipa characters (Easy-Going.)

Bond Percentage

Your bond percentage is the thing that tells you how close your family is. You can raise the percentage by playing lots of games, playing with your family with certain toys, or training them.

v5 Games

TV Surfing: Match the picture on the TV with the one on the screen in the top-right corner. Press A to select the picture when it appears.

Tea Time: Pour tea into the cups when it is placed correctly. Press A to pour tea into the left cup. Press B to pour tea in the right cup. Press both A and B to pour tea into both cups, if both are placed correctly. If neither cups are placed correctly, don't press anything.

Games With Your Parents (Must Be 2nd Gen. or Above)

Golf Putt (Father): The power meter will go up and down under the golf club. Stop the cursor directly under the club by pressing A. The meter goes faster and faster as you advance in the game.

Shoe Pairs (Mother): Your mother will hold up a shoe. You need to get the matching pair from the bottom. When the matching pair from the bottom is directly under the gap, press A to pick it up.

v5.5 Games

Tama Fans: You will be signing autographs and receiving fan mail from your fans. Press A to see the fan on the left. Press B to see the fan on the right. Only see fans who have a pencil or a letter in their thought bubble. If you see the fan with a bug in their thought bubble, you will lose.

Pool Play: Get across the pool without falling in the water. Press B to hop onto an inner tube.

Tennis: Hit the tennis ball back to the other player. If the ball goes up, press and hold A to go up and use C to hit the ball. If the ball goes down, press and hold B to go down and C to hit the ball. If the ball stays in the middle, press C to hit it.

Safe Box: Match the two numbers above to open the safe box. Press A to select the first number and B to select the second number. Press C to submit your answer.

As you probably know, the v5 and v5.5 have different types of families. The type of family you will have depends on your bond percentage and the type of characters you marry together.

Every 1st generation family is a blended family.

Types of Families

These are the type of families that you can have. There are nine in all.

Pure Families

There are four families that are referred to as 'Pure Families.' They are the Mame Family, the Meme Family, the Kuchipa Family, and the Violet Family. They are 'pure' because the mother and father of the family are the same type of character (for example, if a Mametchi and a Chantotchi get married (with 100% bondage level), they will become a Mame Family, since they are both Mame characters.)

Only Pure Families have pets. Pure Families also do something funny when you press the C Button!

Note: Marriages for Pure Families don't work backwards. For example, if you marry a Yonepatchi to a Kuchipatchi, you won't get a Kuchipa Family. You will get a Blended Family.

Mame Family

Mametchi, Chamametchi, Mamametchi, Papamametchi, Bagubagutchi (Pet)

Marry a 100% bonded Mametchi to a Chantotchi

Meme Family

A blended family is a family in which the parents are either different types of characters, or you married the same type of characters wrong. Blended families are a great way to get a variety of characters that you can marry into Pure Families.

If you have a Ninja Family, that means that the tama you raised was neglected (unhappy most of the time, missed attention calls.)

Large Family

Petite Family

The Tamagotchi v4 was the first version was centered around jobs. The job you get depends on how well you raise your tama.

There are 18 different v4 designs, including the special glow-in-the-dark v4 design, making it 19.

Basic Info

Battery: CR2032

Pausing Your v4: Press A and B together.

Sound: Press A and C together. Select 'On' or 'Off.'

Marriage

Marrying via Matchmaker: The matchmaker will show up and present you with a partner that you can marry. If you marry him/her, you will see fireworks on the screen. Your tama is now married! You will have a baby that your tama will take care of, unless they're both sick. After 24 hours, your tama will go back to Tamagotchi Planet and leave you with the baby. You're now in the next generation!

If you don't marry, you can get another chance in a few hours. It is important for your tama to marry so that it won't grow old and die.

Marrying via Connection: If you connect two tamas of different genders a lot, they will marry each other. There isn't a way to determine what time they will marry.

Your Tama Is Gone... There will be an angel on the screen and the only thing accessible is the stats screen. Press A and C together to start with a new egg.

v4 Games

Jump Rope: Jump over the jump rope without getting caught in the rope. Use either the A Button, B Button, or C Button to jump. Be aware that the speed of the rope will increase. If you make it to jump 30, you win!

Mimic: You must have the same pose as the character on the right. After the character does its pose, your tama will do a series of poses. Press any button to stop your tama in the same position as the other character. You must complete four rounds to win.

Shape: Match the shapes before they get to the bottom of the screen. When you see a shape fall, use the B Button to scroll through the different shapes at the bottom and match it to the falling shape. As soon as you match it, send it up to the falling shape by using the A Button to send it to the left of the line, and the C Button to send it to the right of the line. Match 30 shapes to win.

Dance: Match your tama's dance to the three lights that flash at the top of the screen. Left light: A Button Middle light: B Button Right light: C Button. If two lights come on, press the corresponding buttons at the same time. A whistle will go off every time the lights change. The lights might not change after the whistle, so you have to pay attention! You win if you get through 6 rounds.

Flag: Match the flags appearing above your tama with the ones in its hands. Black flag: A Button White flag: C Button. If both flags appear, press both buttons at once. It doesn't matter which side the flags appear on. Just press the corresponding buttons. also, fake flags appear. You can recognize them by the irregular appearance and the awkward sound.

v4.5 Games

Climb: Jump from cloud to cloud by using the B Button. The clouds get faster and faster with every jump. Timing: Jump right before the cloud gets above your tama. Complete 30 jumps to win.

Tug Of War: Press B when your strength bar reaches the maximum point.

Apple: Collect apples by using the A Button to turn left and the C Button to turn right. Don't let any apple get on the ground! Collect 50 to win.

Shapes: Use the A Button, B Button, and C Button to rearrange the shapes at the bottom to match the falling shape pattern.

Manhole: Use the A Button, B Button, and C Button to open the holes and let hearts and Gotchi Points in. Do not let the snakes or poop get into the holes or you will lose!

Skill Points

Skill Points are points that your tama earns when he/she wins a game, eats a certain food, or earns at school or work. The skill points are:

v4: Intelligence, Fashion, and Kindness (respectively)

v4.5: Funny, Gorgeous, and Spiritual (respectively)

Training (v4 and v4.5)

It's very important to train your tama so he/she can grow up to be a good character. You can train your tama by selecting the toilet icon before it makes a mess on the floor. Before a tama makes a mess, it will go from side to side with little squiggles around it.

You can also train your tama by disciplining him/her when he/she beeps for attention and nothing's wrong (it beeps when all his/her happy/hungry hearts are full.)

School!

v4 and v4.5 toddler and teen characters go to school. When a toddler gets enrolled in school, you can't interact with it. You just watch it. But when a teen goes into elementary school, you can choose the teacher. Mr. Turtle gives you Intelligence points, Mr. Canvas gives you Social points, and Ms. Sunflower gives you Artistic points. Press the A Button to scroll through the teachers and press the B Button to select the teacher. Playing the game is simple. The teacher will place a skill point in a box. Then they get shuffled. Choose which box you think the skill point is in. Get it right and you get the skill point. Get it wrong and you get poop.

Jobs!

As you can see, v4 and v4.5 adult characters get jobs! You will be offered a job as soon as you graduate from school. You will get a letter like this: [ ! ]. There's a catch, though! You have to have enough skill points to apply for a certain job. You must get at least 2 O's to get a job. If you get more X's, you will have to try another job.

REJECTION!: If you get rejected from one job, you can always try another job. Rejected from them all? Don't worry! You will be given another chance the following day. Remember: You have to have enough skill points to get a certain job.

If you go the job:

To go to work, go to the heart icon and select 'WORK'. Your Tamagotchi will get paid gotchi points depending on how much it works. You also earn skill points!

You will be offered a second job usually after your tama has a baby.

v4 Jobs:

Hospital: Catch the falling hearts with your bag. Try to avoid the skulls. If you get to 100, you win!

Hairdresser: A tamagotchi will appear in front of you. Then arrows will appear on the screen. A Button: < C Button: >. Press the buttons in the correct sequence quickly. You must do it quickly and correctly or else you will lose the game.

Florist: A picture will appear on the screen. When an item that matches the picture moves under the claw, press the B button to grab it. Timing: Make sure to press B a little before it goes under the claw.

Balloon Catcher: Move you tamagotchi with the A Button and C Button. When the balloons are low enough, use the B Button to jump and catch the balloon. You need to catch a specific number of ballons before time runs out, so be quick about it!

Bus Counter: Pay attention to how many toddlers get on the bus. Add one if a toddler comes on and subtract one if a toddler goes off. Then you will be asked how many toddlers are on the bus. Scroll through the numbers using the A Button to go up a number and the C Button to go down a number. Press the B Button to submit. If you get it right, toddlers will continue to come on or go off the bus. You must add or subtract to the last number (don't start from zero.)
